Toyota operates 75 manufacturing companies across 28 countries globally, and markets vehicles in more than 170 countries, thanks to the support of a 320,000-strong workforce. Toyota began selling cars in Europe in 1963, has invested over €7 billion since 1990 and currently employs some 80,000 people here.  Our European operations are supported by a network of 31 National Marketing and Sales Companies in 56 countries, around 3,000 retailers, and nine manufacturing plants.

What is the wow factor here? Is this site going to blow my mind with its cool.
It's Rocking
There is precious little about the Toyota.com cars companies website that is either appealing or alluring. Besides for the inclusion of a picture of a rather unattractive sales agent adorning the homepage, the rest of the site is equally uninspiring. We are not impressed by the look and feel of Toyota.com

slick design or is it going to an ordinary manufacturer site like all the others?.

Navigation of this cars manufacturer site is mediocre. It feels a little too static and one dimensional when compared with knockout sites like Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen. While the categorization of the content is clear and precise, we feel that a good deal more interactivity can be added to spice up the whole web-browsing experience.

How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..

This is an element of the Toyota site that is absolutely draining on the eyes. We decided to take a peek at the Toyota Highland Sport 2WD.  When we clicked on model specifications we managed to find a dropdown list that just kept on going. There’s a fine line between providing detail and becoming exceptionally overbearing with too much information. Toyota has crossed that line and the result is a virtual tidal wave of specs with no meaning.

How detailed are the car model specifications? Do you get a good feel of the vehicle.
The ‘Find Dealer’ category is easy to use. Customers simply enter a ZIP code and that’s it. We would like to see Toyota providing a background map though, to better illustrate proximity to the input location. There is a map option upon request, but it does not reflect the positioning effectively.

size.

We looked for a trendy Toyota Yaris. What Toyota offers is a list of shopping tools, a build your Yaris option, various demos and videos and much more. In this respect Toyota is on top of their game. It doesn’t entirely differentiate them from their competition, but it puts them alongside other world-class operators. We felt generous, and rated them with an eight.

design and power?.
Innovation and multimedia go hand in hand with Toyota, because they are a world-class car manufacturer. In addition to ‘Demos & Videos’, ‘Photos & Colors’ and ‘Build Your Vehicle’ are many other multimedia options for customers. Toyota is leading the sector with some fine multimedia options, but all of their expertise pales in comparison to the look and feel of a Top site like Mercedes-Benz.

Can I find local dealers? If so.

Toyota.com offers RSS (Really Simple Syndication), which is an easy way to be notified when information that interests you appears on the Web sites you frequent. Besides for this option there is little in the form of social options that we could find.

how easy is to locate and use? Is there a site map or easy drop-down list?.
The contact us section is rather annoying because it is loaded with too much text. We wanted something a lot more user-friendly and certainly a lot more helpful. The support page is another fruitless exercise in bureaucratic mumbo jumbo. When we crave support, we want a live agent, roadside assistance and a local contact/fax number.
